Resident Research Grant Program

Program Overview

The PAOrtho Foundation Resident Research Grant Program supports small research projects that can be carried out in a short period of time.  Typical study scope can include, but is not limited to self-contained research projects, pilot studies, and secondary analysis of existing data.

The PAOrtho Foundation awards grants annually for up to $5,000 to help cover the direct costs of research.

Eligibility Criteria

The program is open only to PAOrtho members who are enrolled as PGY2 or PGY3 resident physicians in an ACGME or AOA approved orthopaedic surgical residency program in Pennsylvania. Applicants must demonstrate a genuine interest in research and submit a compelling proposal that aligns with the program’s goals. Preference is often given to projects that show innovation, potential clinical relevance, and feasibility. Applicants need a physician faculty mentor who is also a PAOtho member.
